Seakeeper Elite Dealer Tri Sea Stabilizers Newsletter 8

PASSED THE WAKE OF THE STORMS….

HELENE AND MILTON

as we have Finally passed the wake of the storms and we are getting the 8th newsletter out.….We want to gve a big Thank you to all of you that gave encouraging words, offers to help and tough elbow grease and labor to move in and out of the Tampa shop…twice…. to prepare for these storms. No matter how many storms we have lived through, it will never prepare you for the damage, heartache or impact each one brings individually to so many.

We do our best to prepare before and be ready to help and assist after but there is no social media video or photo that can prepare us for what we have all seen in person in some of these storms. As a company, we have all shared our stories. “Wilmington” X marks the spot for Barb growing up there, but many of us went through Irma, Ivan, Ian and the list goes on, depending on our ages. devastation is not measurable in the heart but can be manageable by working together.

For those of you not working in the Tampa area, Helene brought 6 feet of water and ick into the shop that the crew there had to clean out. but, we are very grateful to inform everyone that we weathered the second storm with little to no damage other than the headaches and preparations of a second move out and back in. Everything is operating as normal in our shop there. Our thoughts are still with some of our tech’s family’s, as well as our clients and Industry Partners who have more work ahead. But thankfully everyone is safe and Well and that is most important.

We were very fortunate and lucky through both of these storms were others were not. Barb and the kids spent as much time as possible donating their energy to efforts to help in Western North Carolina area. Tri Sea, as a company, also donated not only the use of trucks, generators and other equipment to people in the Tampa areas and across Western NC. It’s hard to figure out where to start and stop helping and where to maintain a balance of work life in a regional company like ours. But, all we can all do is our best at both that still keeps both afloat.

JOHN - Seakeeper Service Manager Florida and North Carolina

JOHN LEDESMA 4 Years / FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

Wow, 4 years! 2020 was an interesting year for us all but the second John walked into our lives we knew he was a keeper:) John came to the the Marine Industry after working for a time in the oil fields in Louisiana. I will start with a little known fact right here: John wanted in the marine industry so bad he ran around Fort Lauderdale annoying local Yacht and boat industry business owners offering to sweep floors. He got his start in Dania and after a time he ended up a lead tech at Ferretti before he made the leap to come to our little mom and pop operation. John busted his Butt and went the extra mile every day from the second he started with us. He used his off hours to read the install manuals and anything Seakeeper he could get his hands on because John started BEFORE there was an SWI-106 or any troubleshooting guide at all. He proved himself day in and day out and when the time came that we knew he was ready to handle it, He was promoted to Service Manager.

John has not stopped there and will continue to grow and thrive here because of his drive not only at the office but at home with his family.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: OMG I know I promised but under the circumstances I figured everyone could use a smile and you would not mind. Our Best little known fact is that, in his past he had an amazing career as an employee at Victoria Secret! :) Sorry John!

KELSEY ROCKWELL 2 Years

For those of you that do not know Kelsey came to us straight from Seakeeper. Weekly, Kelsey supported us through every aspect of the process there, from service parts to gyro inventory to just getting things done and helping us maneuver the corporate environment we found ourselves in. When John heard through the grape vine ( Thank you John) that she was looking for something else we were very distraught and decided we were going to do everything we could do not to lose her.

Kelsey is like Carmen San diego… she could be in tokyo and no one would ever know. She would be up and at it doing what she does without missing a beat. She is hard on ownership when we need her to be, and loyal to the bone. We are very grateful, every day, to have her here with us.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Kelsey Love Love Loves her amazing dog “Athena” and lives just outside of Seattle the majority of the year near the Navy base where Top Gun and Maverick were filmed. Much of her family is in Northern Florida.

WARNING: ONE OF THE PHOTOS BELOW IS VERY DISTURBING

Evidently the word is out that Gyro is the man to see if you are in need of a home! About 3 weeks ago, Presley and I were just a driving down the road minding our own business, when we see a starving, dehydrated and delusional horse ( yes, you heard me a horse) walking down the center of a highway with an animal control officer following close behind with a dog leash. Had the situation not been dyer and the horse not been so bad off, it might have been an amusing picture.

We stopped the car and got out to assist immediately. Using my MacGyver skills, I made him a halter out of ratchet straps starting our relationship and road to recovers for “Blaze” “and “Buttercup”. The end result is that we are now the proud owners and saviors of a Horse and Pony. Yes, Gyro now has his own Horse and Pony show:) They are both doing well as you can see by the photo below with Presley they have both gotten much healthier! You may also notice that Gyro is enjoying driving them both nuts as most brothers and sisters do.

(The last disturbing photo is the day we found them)

I can tell you I have never met anything so starved in person and it is one of the saddest thing I have ever seen. To get like this would have taken months and must have been extremely painful. They are both super sweet and kind considering what they have been through. So everyone say hello to Tri Sea’s latest family additions “Blaze” the horse and “Buttercup” the pony!

VIking Yacht Seakeeper Installation: Locations

When considering the installation of a Seakeeper on your Viking Yacht, the ideal location will mostly be based on Captain and Owner Preference Due to Access of other equipment and maintenance of the Seakeeper itself. The following factors should be taken into account:

Seakeeper installation on a Viking Sport Fish

  1. Accessible Mounting Area: Ensure the installation location provides enough space for the unit and allows for access to other equipment as well as the Seakeeper during maintenance and inspections.

  2. Weight Distribution: Select a space that will allow for even weight distribution. This is important to maintain the vessel's balance and performance characteristics. A Seakeeper or several Seakeeper’s can be installed virtually anywhere on a Viking Yacht. However, We must consider weight distribution if they are not being mounted on the center line. This can be acchieved by counter balancing the Seakeeper’s themselves, moving other equipment or adding ballast to the opposite side of the vessel.

  3. Power Supply Accessibility: Ensure that the installation area has convenient access to power sources and necessary wiring for the Seakeeper.

  4. Keeping the unit clean and dry: The location should allow for adequate airflow around the unit as well as be easy to rinse and clean regularly if it is exposed to salt water.

  5. Structural Integrity: Confirm that the chosen area has the necessary structural support to accommodate the weight and dynamic forces exerted by the Seakeeper when in use. On many vessel refits, we utilize a Naval Architect to assist in the design and planning of the mount and installation process to best fit the chosen space.

Viking Yacht Seakeeper Installation: EXPECTATIONS AND TIMELINES

Keep in mind that the overall timeline may vary depending on vessel size, condition, and any unforeseen challenges during installation. Always consult with the installation team for the most accurate estimates. For most Viking Yachts, you can count on a 4-6 week timeline depending on the age and size of the vessel. However, in some cases, more in depth installations may have cause for more time. An example of this would be choosing to install 3 smaller units on a center line in lieu of installing one big unit in the cockpit. Some of these installations could require more time to properly relocate other equipment and build out foundations.

VIking YAcht Seakeeper Installation: Service and Maintenance

Seakeeper maintenance on board your Viking Yacht will start with regularly ensuring it is kept clean and free from salt and moisture. In most Viking’s the unit is installed in areas that do see Salt water. In the case of salt and salt water exposure, the Seakeeper should always be rinsed with Fresh water and blown or air dried. In some cases, the use of salt away or a similar cleaner may be necassary.

Secondly, The sea strainers on any vessel should be checked regularly and the zincs should be changed every 150 hours or 3 months, whichever comes first.

Lastly, Every Seakeeper aboard a Viking Yacht should be serviced by a certified Seakeeper technician annually or every 1000 hours; whichever comes first. A typical Seakeeper service includes removing and replacing the system's fluids, replacing the accumulator, inspecting its components, and making necessary adjustments or repairs.

VIking YAcht Seakeeper Installation: WArranty

Viking Yacht owners can benefit from a comprehensive Seakeeper warranty that covers parts and labor for up to two years or 2000 hours, whichever comes first. They may also add an extended warranty for coverage of up to five years from the original Commissioning of the unit. Check out the warranty pricing on our site to check out all Extended Warranty Options.

What Alternative is there to the Seakeeper Gyro Stabilizer?

For boat owners seeking an alternative to Seakeeper stabilization systems, there are several options to consider. Other industry competitors including zero speed stabilizers by Naiad as well as other Technology for vessel control introduced by Imtra, DMS Holland and Humphree boast that their performance is better than Seakeeper Stabilization. While each of these alternatives offers unique features and benefits, catering to different preferences and requirements in boat stabilization, they also simply do not have the same ability to stabilize vessels in any condition. The most important information to note and these stabilizers is that none of them actually work 100% at rest. The Seakeeper stabilizers brings comfort to boating at speed and at rest leaving you and your crew and family happier and safer 100% of the time.

Seakeeper Competition

Alternatives to SeAkeeeper?

Does The Seakeeper Gyro have any REAL competition in the yacht and boating stabilization market? We try to answer this question for our readers here.

What are the alternatives to Seakeeper?

Historically, there have been many boat stabilizers on the market such as fin stabilizers, trim tabs and other extrusions, However, Seakeeper’s main industry competition comes in the form or other Gyro stabilizers such as Veem Gyro, Quick Gyro, ARG and the newer Smart Gyro. The blunt truth is that none of these stabilizers hold a candle to the support and technology that the Seakeeper standard provides.

Why Does the Seakeeper have No competition?

As we compare the products below, you will come to see why the Seakeeper Stabilizer truly has no other competition in the boat stabilizer market. Seakeeper, inc has worked hard to stay on top of the boat and yacht stabilization market by providing the best and most up to date technology and service in the Marine Industry. Their commitment to making their product better, year after year, is unparalleled.

Seakeeper VS Competition: Unit WeighT

One issue with other Gyro Stabilizer’s on the market is the massive weight of the competitor units. Most all of the other boat and yacht stabilizers on the market come up to 50% larger and heaver, for the vessel they are stabilizing, than the Seakeeper. A larger and heavier Gyro’s give less options to work with during a stabilization refit as well as cause other issues with a vessel such as ride, fuel and energy usage, and capacity. See all of our unit specifications on our Seakeeper Price and Info Page.

Seakeeper VS Competition: Unit POWER

Adding to the list of defects on other Yacht stabilizers on the market is the excess power draw of the Seakeeper competition. Most of the other Gyro stabilizers on the market require upwards of double or more of the power draw as the Seakeeper Gyro. Often times the electrical requirements alone, of these other gyro’s, make them an impossible option for specific vessels.

Seakeeper VS Competition: UNIT PERFORMANCE

The Seakeeper active control system comes with the smartest stabilization software on the market. The Seakeeper Stabilizer’s built in software provides technology to read the sea conditions as they are happening and communicates with the unit to recover and respond quicker to the wave action.

Also, compared to most Yacht and Boat Stabilization systems the Seakeeper performs at rest and underway. With Seakeeper you can be safe and comfortable on the water in any condition.

Seakeeper VS Competition: UNIT COOLING

Many other Gyro Stabilizers on the market encounter issues such as overheating due to overworking or being air cooled in a hot environment. The Seakeeper Stabilization system will never have this issue. The Seakeeper is cooled with their patented cooling system which removes heat by utilizing a heat exchanger through a glycol/seawater exchange. Due to the fact that the sphere itself is vacuum encapsulated in helium there is very little heat created so most of the Seakeeper units only pull water on demand.

SEAKEEPER VS COMPETITION: Service AND HISTORY

Seakeeper provides a network over 300 dealerships globally, to offer Seakeeper Service and support when needed. No other Gyro Stabilizer can even come close to have that many dealers providing stabilizers service and maintenance.

Why is Seakeeper the best in the industry?

In summary, The Engineers behind Seakeeper spare no time nor expense in their persistence to continue to be the best of the best in boat and yacht stabilization. Their innovative technology and consistant forward thinking towards newer and better products as well as support, is the biggest difference between Seakeeper and it’s competitor’s.

Tri Sea Stabilizers is the best and largest Seakeeper Service and Seakeeper installation world wide. We offer Seakeeper service and Seakeeper installations on the East Coast and have Brick and Morter locations in Florida and North Carolina in the following locations: Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Pensacola, Islamorada, Miami and Wilmington. WE ARE COMBINING THE JULY AND AUGUST NEWSLETTER BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ANNIVERSARY’S AND ONLY ONE BIRTHDAY IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST.

BLUE MARLIN GRAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Tim, Mario and John traveled to meet up with Luke this month to support the Annual Blue Marlin Grand Championship in Orange Beach, Alabama. A large percentage of the boats in the tournament are current and past service clients through their own accord or via Galati Yacht Sales and Pensacola Marine Center. It was nice to run into so many of them at the tournament and be there to offer support if needed. As you can see from the photo to the left, the winner was a monster.

Tim, John, Luke and Mario sweat their butts off again, walking all the docks and jumping in engine rooms to inspect units before they launched into the 3 day tournament.

We have some exciting news coming regarding a tooling assistance program we are putting into place within the company but we have not finalized all of the details yet. We hope to have the news live and in detail in the August Newsletter. Stay Tuned!

WES - Seakeeper Installation Technician for Tri Sea Stabilizers

WESLEY MCCOOL 4 Years / FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

It is hard to believe it has been 4 years since this wonderful young man stepped into the Tri Sea family. He started with us with no real knowledge of Seakeeper or boats in general. The amount of industry knowledge he has learned and conquered in the last 4 years is amazing and admirable.

Everyone knows that Wes shows up every day with a smile and works his Butt off not matter the conditions, no matter the weather, no matter the boat, no matter the location and no matter Seakeeper task and he leaves smiling every day.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Evidently Wes is the man to go to if you need a “Dilly Bean” fix. It is also rumored he loves XBOX, the Beach, his family and softball. So, if you are craving Dilly Beans, you are welcome!

STEVE TEJEDA 2 Years / FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

Because Steve is not much for and Social Media (do not start him on Tik Tok lol) It was difficult to find a fitting photo to use. But I think he would be happiest having his bestest friend who he adores pictured in his stead.

Steve’s arrival at Tri Sea brought with it Intelligence, charm and many hours of comedy relief. Steve came to us knowing one thing, that he loved the Seakeeper product. Steve is not only on of the hardest working employees I have ever met, he is quite literally our biggest cheerleader. He is proud to be a part of our team and we are proud to have him.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Steve Love Love Love Loves his Country and is proud to live in the greatest country in the world. He also loves to homestead on his property in “Homestead” with his animals and vegetable garden.

CONNOR BARNES 1 Year / NC

Many of you may not know that the man behind the computer came to us from the UK after he married the love of his life; who happens to live in NC. (OK well if you have spoken with him on the phone you may have guessed from the accent:)

Most of you know he works very hard on one of the most annoyingly frustrating jobs in the company - keeping our technology straight. What many of you may not know is that he also runs all of our google adwords and business listing SEO as well as works together with our parts department to keep the back end of Gyroparts.com running smooth.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Connor works remote from his Wife’s hometown of Brevard NC. He and his wife love gaming and hanging out with their new baby girl and family.

Most of you have met Gyro and are aware that he is used to being an only fur child! A few weeks ago a dopey, smiling, starving and dehydrated hound dog followed Tim 2 miles home on a run. After nursing her to health and checking with everyone in the county, the shelters, the vet hospitals etc, our neighbor told us “Congratulations, you are the proud new parents of an Appalachian Bonus Dog”. So, although a bit hesitant about sharing, it appears that Gyro has accepted an adopted sister into the household. Everyone welcome “Honey” to the Tri Sea family!

June 1. 2024

Apologies for the tardy Seakeeper news this month. We had a very busy month of Seakeeper Events as well as we were waiting for confirmation on a few things prior to release. We are announcing 1 this month and 1 next month because we were not able to finalize all the plans.

MaJOR ANNIVERSARY’s

Before we mention anything we want to mention a huge milestone hit by 2 employees this month. Eric Fromen and Joe Mann hit 6 years with Tri Sea Stabilizers this year. It has not been an easy 6 years with an up and coming company which, in the words of the great Buddy Aimar, has more often than not.. “felt like drinking water through a fire hydrant”. There is more in the Anniversary section on this but, they started with us in the beginning and have stuck by us though the years. We are very grateful to them and their family’s! Happy Big 6 guys!!!!

Upcoming Holiday News

The biggest news of the month is that we have decided to take Friday after July 4th off as a company. Everyone should try to hit their 30 hours by Wednesday evening and will be paid for the 40.

BIG ROCK

John and Steve traveled this month to the Annual Big Rock Tournament in North Carolina and worked their tails off representing the Tri Sea and Seakeeper brand at the biggest tournament on the East Coast. They not only saw many familiar faces both from the West and East coast of Florida as well as NC, but made a ton of new relationships and made many Captains Happy, that they were there to get them back on the water.

Join us in Saying Happy Anniversary to your Team mates!

ERIC FROMEN 6 Years / FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - The man, THE LEGEND!. We still don’t know everything our office staff said to him in 2018 to get Eric to come be a part of this crazy team! However, we are sure glad they got him to leave his corporate big machine position and join us at Tri Sea Stabilizers.

He has busted his butt with this company in so many ways and in so many different locations it is hard to find a way to tell him how grateful we are to have him on our team! He took a leap of faith to take a job with our tiny mom and pop because he saw the potential for the future.

Many of you may not know that Eric, like Tim and I, spent almost 2 years traveling back and forth, away from his family to work for us and to work towards his dream.

We have learned much and grown a ton together because of Eric.

Eric is an avid Angler and just loves to fish any chance he gets.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: When he is not fishing or working on his or his kids cars, in his free time, Eric loves to binge on netflix series if it gains his attention.

JOSEPH MANN 6 Years / TAMPA, FL The “Mann” Joe Mann! We are grateful for our friend Coty Garrett, who works at Seakeeper,Inc, for introducing us to a great diagnostic auto mechanic who was looking for a life change in 2018. Having worked on cars all his life he was looking for a new challenge and boy did he find one with us.

Joe also traveled A LOT in those early years. It’s not easy to find someone you can trust to represent your company on any dock anywhere and we found that in Joe immediately. Joe was basically home for weekends and Holidays the first year of his employment with Tri Sea and he busted his butt on the road for us, living that lifestyle until Seakeeper’s were prevalent enough that he could finally have enough work to stay home on the West coast.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Joe loves to fish and, as you can see from the photo to the right, it runs in the family. Joe also loves to ski and snowboard and takes his vacations every year with family and friends to make that happen.

MICHAEL DAVIES 2 Years / TAMPA, FL Michael spent a lot of time sailing the waters of the Northeast. Growing up with a love of water it seems natural that he entered the Coast Guard which is eventually what brought him to the Tampa area.

Michael knew he wanted to be in the Marine Industry and came to us looking for just what we wrote in our advertisement. A career he liked with people he liked instead of “just a job”.

We truly hope that he found the long term team he was looking for! He is one of the hardest working team players we have ever encountered in business and would do just about anything for a teammate in need!

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Michael is a car enthusiast and loves all things automotive. His favorite Holiday is Christmas!

DAVID MUNNE 1 Years / FORT LAUDERDALE David also came to us as a veteran of the Coast Guard via the Miami Station.

In his first year with us he has grown leaps and bounds in his Seakeeper Technical experience. He was hired to man the more Northern side of the East Coast of Florida. It is an area our guys had a hard time hitting on the daily due to traffic and how busy they already were in their area.

As our main Seakeeper Technincian between the Fort Pierce, Stuart and West Palm area he has already made name for himself and Tri Sea as the continued area go to for all things Seakeeper.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: He is a happy Baseball dad and is his kids biggest fan.
