TRI SEA AND SEAKEEPER NEWS

There is a lot of new news not only in the world of Tri Sea but also Seakeeper this month. See Below for all of the newest happenings:

  • ARE YOU READY FOR THIS????? You have been waiting for some time….Tri Sea is finally getting the new Time Keeping application It will take several months to set it all up but we are moving to a new timekeeping application that will hopefully have a lot less bugs and issues in the future. Some of the upsides of the app are as follows:

    • All Reports will be available INSIDE the app for filling out meaning you will fill your report out while you are clocked into the job inside the application, alleviating the need to send yet 1 more email.

    • You will be able to upload not only photos but videos into the application as well also alleviating the need for further emails.

    • There will be inventory control and tracking and a whole host of other things included.

  • We are almost done with the onboarding process of the new HR company. They will be incorporating many more payroll, benefit and overall employee support functions for everyone. They are also going to roll out free leadership training modules and a whole host of other accessories and support products to you all for free. This will also include a new Employee portal that seems to be much more user friendly than our current portal.

  • The new SOP’s and training manuals are almost all done and we hope to be getting those out to everyone as soon as possible.

LOOKING FOR SOME EXTRA $$$$$

If you refer a potential employee to us and we not only hire them but they stay in good standing to the 90 day mark we are going to give you a $750 finders fee.

2025 IN REVIEW

Wow, what a year! As a Seakeeper only dealer, we could never do what we do without each and every one of our employees. We are really excited to share some of our companies accomplishments this year.

Some of our most noteworthy achievements this year include the following:

  • Surpassed 13,000 followers on Instagram

  • Surpassed 75, 5 star google reviews

  • Over 1,000,000 in Warranty sales by the Warranty team protecting 100’s more of our customers for years to come! GREAT JOB WARRANTY TEAM!!!!!

  • Close to 13% growth overall in sales with Seakeeper which includes Seakeeper Service Parts, Seakeeper Warranty and Seakeeper Gyro sales.

  • Completed our Tri Sea Saw and put it to use in shows and events

Also, a please join us in wishing a huge CONGRATULATIONS to your teammate Andrii Statsiura for not only making it to the top four placements in the Seakeeper corporate Top Tech Challenge, but having the top overall score globally. The top tech challenge takes place over the course of the entire year. The four techs globally with the top score go to the Seakeeper training facility in Tampa to battle it out in person but also get to have a little fun while there, including a top tech fishing trip. GREAT JOB ANDRII! It took a ton of determination and drive to keep up with the challenge throughout the year and we are so very excited for your accomplishment and grateful to you for keeping with it! We will be rooting for him on the tentative battle day which is February 16, 2026.

WHATS NEXT

We sent out our survey for the year ( though we only received 5 back ) and had a ton of meetings with different departments in our company and have some exciting changes and goals coming for the upcoming year. Here are a few things we can tell you about now but lots of updates will be coming in the next few months that we think everyone will be excited about:

  • In 2026 we are outsourcing everything HR related to a company called Puzzler HR. This is going to give a more personal experience to all employees as well as increase efficiency and response times to your questions and concerns. It will also give everyone further peace of mind to confidentiality of personal decisions and more resources overall to all of our employees. The company will be handling initial vetting of new employees, onboarding, payroll, questions and concerns of current employees, insurance and more. Barb has been working hard in meetings with them to prepare for the full handover but we are hopeful to have the ball totally in their court by February 1. Please follow your current policys and procedure until everything is in place and the announcement of the full hand off is in place.

We will have our own personal representative to introduce you all to and they will be your go to after the handoff has taken place.

  • We learn something new every day it seems and we have learned alot from listening to all of you. So, we are making a ton of changes to the Tri Sea Seakeeper dealer employee handbook as well as revising job descriptions and will be re-sending contracts and handbooks out in the coming weeks for you review. We hope you will all like the changes we are putting in place.

  • With your managers and project leaders help, we have started a new SOP and training manual that we hope to have complete in the coming weeks as well. We want to focus on giving you all what you need to succeed and move ahead in the new year and truly believe these documents and policy’s will help every single person in the company get where they want to go!

THANKSGIVING AND THE FUTURE

You have all asked for it so here it is. What better time could there be to bring the Tri Sea Stabilizers Seakeeper company newsletter back than Thanksgiving? We are so grateful to all of you and all you do EVERY day to make us the best Seakeeper Service and Seakeeper Installation company on the planet. Without every single person on this team we could not do what we do, the way we do it, every single day. You show up in the heat, in the rain, in the world of frustrations that come with “Boats” and Boat Schedules, and boat captains and Boat owners and and AND you THRIVE, You WIN and most importantly make this company look great as the face or voice of it every single day! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

For this Newsletter we will use it as a soft re-start to update everyone on promotions within the company, job changes and overall company news. In January we will restart the Birthday’s and Anniversaries as well as important dates, events and announcements.

NEWS:

This year we sponsored the Annual Billfish Gala which happens to be a Halloween costume party. It was a request from many of our clients that we support the Gala this year. HMY, Galati and all our biggest clients attend every year. As you can imagine, Tim Nichols is not a um dress up kind of person. But he was a good sport about it when Barb announced the “American History” theme. He will probably kill us for sharing but pictured is Tim as George Washington and our Seakeeper Sales rep. Tom Cole as Benjamin Franklin.

EMPLOYEE NEWS:

For many years, few things have changed about the way we run our ads or how we interact and the questions we ask in interviews. Most everyone in the company was asked the question, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”. The usual answer I get is “In 5 years I would like to see myself in a leadership role.” One of us usually re-buddles with somthing along the lines of, “The world is your oyster at Tri Sea. Show us what you are made of and we will get you there”. If any of you had a doubt that you too can grow in this company, The three stories below should disprove that to you. At Tri Sea, everyone has the opportunity to grow. If you want advice on how to get ahead these three are the ones to talk to.

Tri Sea Director of Seakeeper Installations

TYLER KINNETT

Original Start Date: 7/18/2022

It is with great joy that we formally announce Tyler Kinnett’s promotion to overall DIRECTOR OF INSTALLATIONS. Just under 4 years ago, when Tyler started with us on the West Coast of Florida, technicians had to learn really everything they could about both Seakeeper Service and Seakeeper Installations, simultaneously on a regular basis. There was not yet enough business to do so and could be no real separation of departments. One day he was learning Seakeeper Service and the next day he was in a hole knee deep in fiberglass doing a Seakeeper Installation or drilling and tapping in the shop and so on.

Tyler worked his butt off on every job and did his homework. He shows up every day with a great attitude, always looking for ways to grow as well as learn. He is always there for his peers, customers and this company no matter what the weather. This included many weekends, over the past few years, of Hurricane move in and out and Hurricane clean up as well as working in crazy conditions due to storm damage. HIs persistence has shown itself in many other ways, not the least of which was his evolution in becoming a master of the Installation and troubleshooting of Seakeeper’s newest product, Seakeeper Ride.

In early 2023, Tyler became the technical lead for the NC and West Coast of Florida Installation department and moved into adding scheduling to his role. Late last year, Tyler was promoted to handling not only all of those details but managing both of those locations as well as opening the Pensacola location and handling all the customer and employee Seakeeper installation related details. He possesses all the right skills of a respected manager and as such has earned the respect of all employees working under him as well the trust of our long term clients in those areas. Join us in congratulating him on his newest accomplishment.

Seakeeper Service Director fishing for Mahi

Tri Sea Seakeeper Director of Service and Parts

JOHN LEDESMA

Original Start Date: 10/26/2020

Many of you may not know John came to Fort Lauderdale and landed his first Marine Industry job by annoying the owner the business into letting him sweep the floors while he learned about working on boats.

Tri Sea Seakeeper Service Manager

Fast forward to 2020 to an experienced young buck working at Ferretti on some of the most expensive yachts in the industry. John started seeking a place he could grow, not only as a technician, but a chance to do more. He started his first day at Tri Sea with a gusto I have never seen for a guy who was hanging fans for us at the Fort Lauderdale Boat show. He started back at the bottom with us, knowing almost nothing about the Seakeeper but excited every morning, to see what the day held. His cool and calm demeanor with clients, peers and ownership made it obvious that he had the makings of someone who would do well with the customer service needs this type of business requires in the office.

We started John with one foot in and one foot out of the office in late 2021. He ran services a few days a week and worked in the office a few days a week for close to 8 months and then became our full time Seakeeper Service Scheduler. By 2023, John was designated the acting Service Manager for the entire Tri Sea Service Team of all locations.

Seeing a need for boots on the ground Seakeeper expertise and hunger to continue learning and growing, The next move for him here was obvious. Join us in congratulating John Ledesma in being Promoted to DIRECTOR OF SERVICE..

STEVE TEJEDA

Original Start Date: 7/18/2022

Have any of you ever read our Google reviews? As I write this, there are 76 total 5 Star Google reviews of our Seakeeper Service and Installations. Of those reviews, I would bet 75% of them mention Steve and for very good reason.

Steve started at Tri Sea as a Seakeeper service technician and quickly made the clients.. .well, “Melt” in the palm of his hand. That is the only way we have to convey the way the clients talk about him. His work ethic is beyond compare. He is always willing to go far and wide beyond the call of duty to help the clients. Steve has always had the clients best interest at heart first and it has always showed.

He was always willing to help fellow technicians as well, whether by phone or staying late or filling in. Whatever anyone needed, Steve was the guy! As the service department kept growing and growing we had to start looking internally for someone to assist with the day to days with both the Tech’s and the clients and tossed Steve in an office chair to see how it went. Boy howdy, did it go….With him in the Service Scheduler position we showed just how much he/we as a department could accomplish in a day. Steves standards as a technician and scheduler were not just that of our company standard or even what would be recognized as a leadership standard. Steve treats the company as if it is his company, every day.

With the increase in business and other shifts in the company Steve has moved naturally into his newest position as Tri Sea Stabilizers Seakeeper SERVICE MANAGER as if he was always meant to be there. Congratulations Steve!!!

GYRO AND CO. SHENANIGANS

As I am sure most of you suspect, there have been some more rescue additions to the growing Tri Sea farming family. We can truly say we do not know how it continues to happen but if you believe Tim, he believes someone may have implanted a honing beacon to Barb that draws strays to them. Thankfully, we have re-homed several to good homes in the process as well.

Below you will see 2 of the new additions to us. We found “Gracie the cow”, living in a chicken coop at a “Fancy” horse barn. The owner had bred some cows for fun and had no real knowledge of how to take care of them. Gracie was weaned way too early and put in the only fence she would be safe in which was the chicken coop. She was eating a diet of brown hay, covered in flies and bugs and hiding in the bushes and would let no one touch her. Because of this we think her growth was stunted. It took us a few months to get her warmed up but we got her home and we are pretty sure she thinks she is a dog as you can see of the photo of her with Gyro.

The second photo is “Cletus the goat”. We actually took him on from another Horse barn in over their heads. They rescued him from a bad situation but had no idea what it would be like to own a goat who thought it was a human. We have no idea what happened to Cletus at his previous homes in Florida but he has the most wonderful lip on the planet and what looks like Alligator bites out of his ears. He is living and thriving peacefully now and has learned many tricks such as opening doors on his own to attempt get into the house. He is a smart Goat with a big personality!

PASSED THE WAKE OF THE STORMS….

HELENE AND MILTON

as we have Finally passed the wake of the storms and we are getting the 8th newsletter out.….We want to gve a big Thank you to all of you that gave encouraging words, offers to help and tough elbow grease and labor to move in and out of the Tampa shop…twice…. to prepare for these storms. No matter how many storms we have lived through, it will never prepare you for the damage, heartache or impact each one brings individually to so many.

We do our best to prepare before and be ready to help and assist after but there is no social media video or photo that can prepare us for what we have all seen in person in some of these storms. As a company, we have all shared our stories. “Wilmington” X marks the spot for Barb growing up there, but many of us went through Irma, Ivan, Ian and the list goes on, depending on our ages. devastation is not measurable in the heart but can be manageable by working together.

For those of you not working in the Tampa area, Helene brought 6 feet of water and ick into the shop that the crew there had to clean out. but, we are very grateful to inform everyone that we weathered the second storm with little to no damage other than the headaches and preparations of a second move out and back in. Everything is operating as normal in our shop there. Our thoughts are still with some of our tech’s family’s, as well as our clients and Industry Partners who have more work ahead. But thankfully everyone is safe and Well and that is most important.

We were very fortunate and lucky through both of these storms were others were not. Barb and the kids spent as much time as possible donating their energy to efforts to help in Western North Carolina area. Tri Sea, as a company, also donated not only the use of trucks, generators and other equipment to people in the Tampa areas and across Western NC. It’s hard to figure out where to start and stop helping and where to maintain a balance of work life in a regional company like ours. But, all we can all do is our best at both that still keeps both afloat.

Anniversary’s

THERE ARE SOME DOOZY’S THIS MONTH :) Join us in Saying Happy Anniversary to your Team mate!

JOHN - Seakeeper Service Manager Florida and North Carolina

JOHN LEDESMA 4 Years / FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

Wow, 4 years! 2020 was an interesting year for us all but the second John walked into our lives we knew he was a keeper:) John came to the the Marine Industry after working for a time in the oil fields in Louisiana. I will start with a little known fact right here: John wanted in the marine industry so bad he ran around Fort Lauderdale annoying local Yacht and boat industry business owners offering to sweep floors. He got his start in Dania and after a time he ended up a lead tech at Ferretti before he made the leap to come to our little mom and pop operation. John busted his Butt and went the extra mile every day from the second he started with us. He used his off hours to read the install manuals and anything Seakeeper he could get his hands on because John started BEFORE there was an SWI-106 or any troubleshooting guide at all. He proved himself day in and day out and when the time came that we knew he was ready to handle it, He was promoted to Service Manager.

John has not stopped there and will continue to grow and thrive here because of his drive not only at the office but at home with his family.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: OMG I know I promised but under the circumstances I figured everyone could use a smile and you would not mind. Our Best little known fact is that, in his past he had an amazing career as an employee at Victoria Secret! :) Sorry John!

KELSEY ROCKWELL 2 Years

For those of you that do not know Kelsey came to us straight from Seakeeper. Weekly, Kelsey supported us through every aspect of the process there, from service parts to gyro inventory to just getting things done and helping us maneuver the corporate environment we found ourselves in. When John heard through the grape vine ( Thank you John) that she was looking for something else we were very distraught and decided we were going to do everything we could do not to lose her.

Kelsey is like Carmen San diego… she could be in tokyo and no one would ever know. She would be up and at it doing what she does without missing a beat. She is hard on ownership when we need her to be, and loyal to the bone. We are very grateful, every day, to have her here with us.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Kelsey Love Love Loves her amazing dog “Athena” and lives just outside of Seattle the majority of the year near the Navy base where Top Gun and Maverick were filmed. Much of her family is in Northern Florida.

What is a Seakeeper Ride? How Does Seakeeper Ride Work?

What is Seakeeper Ride, & how does it work? We explain how the Seakeeper Ride system functions underway on boats.

What is a Seakeeper Ride?

Investing in a Seakeeper Ride means redefining your boating experience. Say goodbye to the discomfort of waves and embrace a new standard of stability, ensuring you can focus on making memories rather than managing motion. Explore our Seakeeper Ride options at Tri Sea Stabilizers and see how you can elevate your time on the water. Discover why we are the trusted local dealer in the Florida Keys, Tampa, Naples, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Wilmington NC. Join the ranks of satisfied boat owners who have already transformed their marine adventures.

Seakeeper Ride: Frequently Asked Questions

What is Seakeeper Ride?

Seakeeper Ride is a revolutionary Vessel Attitude Control System (VACS) that significantly reduces boat roll and pitch, enhancing comfort, control, and confidence on the water. Unlike traditional trim tabs, Seakeeper Ride utilizes advanced aerospace technology to anticipate and counteract boat motion, delivering an unparalleled boating experience.

How does Seakeeper Ride work?

Seakeeper Ride employs a network of sensors to constantly monitor the boat's motion. These sensors relay information to a sophisticated control system that instantaneously adjusts high-performance actuators. These actuators, mounted on the transom, create dynamic lift forces that counteract boat roll and pitch, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable ride.

What are the key benefits of Seakeeper Ride?

Seakeeper Ride provides a range of benefits, including:

  • Eliminates up to 70% of underway pitch and roll, leading to a significantly smoother ride.

  • Optimizes running angle automatically through the Trim Command Curve feature, enhancing fuel efficiency and performance.

  • Maintains a level deck regardless of weight distribution, ensuring passenger comfort and safety.

  • Improves turning performance by automatically adjusting the heeling angle, resulting in a more comfortable and controlled turn.

  • Delivers faster acceleration and a quicker time to plane, enhancing safety and overall boating experience.

How much does Seakeeper Ride cost?

The cost of a Seakeeper Ride system varies depending on the model required for your boat size. The unit price ranges from $4,500 to $20,500, with installation costs averaging between $4,500 and $13,000. It's important to note that these prices are averages and do not include taxes, shipping, or any vessel-specific work.

What is included in the Seakeeper Ride installation cost?

The Seakeeper Ride installation cost typically includes:

  • Mounting the Seakeeper Ride actuators on the transom.

  • Connecting the system's hydraulics and electrical components.

  • Integrating the control system with the boat's existing electronics.

  • Testing and calibrating the system for optimal performance.

How do I get a precise cost estimate for Seakeeper Ride on my boat?

To receive a custom Seakeeper Ride estimate tailored to your specific boat, it's recommended to contact an authorized Seakeeper dealer like Tri Sea Stabilizers. Their expert team will assess your vessel's requirements and provide a detailed cost breakdown, including installation and any additional considerations.

What boat sizes are compatible with Seakeeper Ride?

Seakeeper Ride offers a range of models designed for boats from 26 feet up to 42 feet in length. Each model is engineered to provide optimal performance for a specific boat size range, ensuring the most effective motion control.

Where can I find more information about Seakeeper Ride?

For detailed information on Seakeeper Ride, including product specifications, brochures, and dealer locations, visit the official Seakeeper website or contact an authorized Seakeeper dealer like Tri Sea Stabilizers. Their knowledgeable team can answer your questions and guide you through the process of acquiring and installing Seakeeper Ride on your boat. What is a Seakeeper on a boat?

A Seakeeper represents leading marine motion control technology that is designed to eliminate at least 80% of a boat's pitch and roll. This is accomplished by dampening the vessel's cyclic roll motions on the water and can vastly improve the boating experience for everyone. The Seakeeper is a gyro stabilizer for boats, which means it employs the physics of gyroscopes as a sea stabilizer. The science of gyroscopic motion ensures that rotating objects tend to maintain the orientation of their rotation, and its use in the Seakeeper produces a mighty gyroscopic torque to port and starboard, which effectively and efficiently battles the problem of boat roll.

Welcome to the Seakeeper Ride system overview. Here we emphasize the unique advantages of Seakeeper Ride over traditional transom-mounted systems, highlighting its ability to eliminate up to 70% of pitch and roll while underway. The text emphasizes the "Vessel Attitude Control System" (VACS) capabilities of Seakeeper Ride, focusing on how this advanced technology offers intuitive, automatic control for a more comfortable and enjoyable boating experience. Below we outline several features of Seakeeper Ride, such as its Trim Command Curve for optimal running angles, auto-leveling for even weight distribution, and improved turning performance. The page concludes with calls to action to learn more about Seakeeper Ride, explore its products, and subscribe for updates.

WARNING: ONE OF THE PHOTOS BELOW IS VERY DISTURBING

Evidently the word is out that Gyro is the man to see if you are in need of a home! About 3 weeks ago, Presley and I were just a driving down the road minding our own business, when we see a starving, dehydrated and delusional horse ( yes, you heard me a horse) walking down the center of a highway with an animal control officer following close behind with a dog leash. Had the situation not been dyer and the horse not been so bad off, it might have been an amusing picture.

We stopped the car and got out to assist immediately. Using my MacGyver skills, I made him a halter out of ratchet straps starting our relationship and road to recovers for “Blaze” “and “Buttercup”. The end result is that we are now the proud owners and saviors of a Horse and Pony. Yes, Gyro now has his own Horse and Pony show:) They are both doing well as you can see by the photo below with Presley they have both gotten much healthier! You may also notice that Gyro is enjoying driving them both nuts as most brothers and sisters do.

(The last disturbing photo is the day we found them)

I can tell you I have never met anything so starved in person and it is one of the saddest thing I have ever seen. To get like this would have taken months and must have been extremely painful. They are both super sweet and kind considering what they have been through. So everyone say hello to Tri Sea’s latest family additions “Blaze” the horse and “Buttercup” the pony!

VIking Yacht Seakeeper Installation: Locations

When considering the installation of a Seakeeper on your Viking Yacht, the ideal location will mostly be based on Captain and Owner Preference Due to Access of other equipment and maintenance of the Seakeeper itself. The following factors should be taken into account:

Seakeeper installation on a Viking Sport Fish

  1. Accessible Mounting Area: Ensure the installation location provides enough space for the unit and allows for access to other equipment as well as the Seakeeper during maintenance and inspections.

  2. Weight Distribution: Select a space that will allow for even weight distribution. This is important to maintain the vessel's balance and performance characteristics. A Seakeeper or several Seakeeper’s can be installed virtually anywhere on a Viking Yacht. However, We must consider weight distribution if they are not being mounted on the center line. This can be acchieved by counter balancing the Seakeeper’s themselves, moving other equipment or adding ballast to the opposite side of the vessel.

  3. Power Supply Accessibility: Ensure that the installation area has convenient access to power sources and necessary wiring for the Seakeeper.

  4. Keeping the unit clean and dry: The location should allow for adequate airflow around the unit as well as be easy to rinse and clean regularly if it is exposed to salt water.

  5. Structural Integrity: Confirm that the chosen area has the necessary structural support to accommodate the weight and dynamic forces exerted by the Seakeeper when in use. On many vessel refits, we utilize a Naval Architect to assist in the design and planning of the mount and installation process to best fit the chosen space.

Viking Yacht Seakeeper Installation: EXPECTATIONS AND TIMELINES

Keep in mind that the overall timeline may vary depending on vessel size, condition, and any unforeseen challenges during installation. Always consult with the installation team for the most accurate estimates. For most Viking Yachts, you can count on a 4-6 week timeline depending on the age and size of the vessel. However, in some cases, more in depth installations may have cause for more time. An example of this would be choosing to install 3 smaller units on a center line in lieu of installing one big unit in the cockpit. Some of these installations could require more time to properly relocate other equipment and build out foundations.

In some cases, the use of salt away or a similar cleaner may be necassary.

Secondly, The sea strainers on any vessel should be checked regularly and the zincs should be changed every 150 hours or 3 months, whichever comes first.

Lastly, Every Seakeeper aboard a Viking Yacht should be serviced by a certified Seakeeper technician annually or every 1000 hours; whichever comes first.
