INVITATION TO HOST

Adding to the good news in 2024 Tri Sea was invited to sponsor the 2024 Blue Marlin Grand Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama this July. The tournament raises money for St. Judes every year and have raised over $200,000 for the cause to date. We are extremely excited to be a part of this wonderful cause as well as attend to provide support to our clients and industry partners.

Government Contract

2024 has already been full of good tidings. Recently, we were contacted ( along with every other Florida Dealer) by several contracting companies to bid on 2 Army vessels for them. What they did not know is that we had also been contacted directly by the Patrick Airforce Base to place our own bid directly. Tri Sea is not only Veteran owned but we also already have our own SAMS membership enabling us to contract directly with the government.

All bidders had to show up to inspect the vessels at a prescribed time together. That exact time was right in the middle of the Miami boat show. Tyler stood in for us at the inspection and obviously did a great job representing Tri Sea. Thank you Tyler!

We found out last week, that we got the contract for both boats. We are excited to start adding this technology to these boats not only for the sale but for future safety of troops of all branches. We hope it is the first in a long line of government contracts to come.

Invitation To the panhandle!

For many years many of our clients have been requesting that we offer support to them in the Panhandle are of Florida. We have traveled for them in a true emergency but we have always held back because of difficulty in flights getting out there and not having a true home base in the area.

We were recently introduced to Bob Anderson of the new Pensicola Marine Center (Formerly Pensicola Shipyard). Bob Came to the Marine Center with 3 decades of yard management, most of which had been with Saunders Marine. Bob has invited us, with open arms, to set up our Seakeeper Service Support shop in what we think may be the greatest Marine center on the East Coast, rivaling competition such as Saunders and Jarrett Bay. Installations will come in the future, but our biggest aim is to handle our traveling clients that fill the panhandle regularly. In employee news below you will note, we already have our first hire for that area. We plan to wait to announce it publicly until he is back from training with a truck and all the equipment needed for support.

I know some of you like to get your Gyro Updates. The first photo is of Gyro looking very proud of himself after he chased a blue heron through a Wilmington NC Marsh and the second is after I shamed him. It has taken 3 baths and 3 days and the smell is still not gone - but I am certain he enjoyed every second of it. lol

THANK YOU ALL!

The biggest news we have from the month of February is at this years Miami International Boat Show we were, once again voted the best of the best in Seakeeper. This year they threw a twist in and gave us separate awards for “Best In Seakeeper Service”, “Best in Seakeeper Marketing” along with “Dealer of the Year”.

This is the first time in Seakeeper history, one dealer has won all three awards. How, you ask, did we get them? YOU, that’s how. I don’t watch football but I make a lot of metaphors about it that may or may not make sense. But coaches can make moves and plan the very best play but get no where without the team to carry it out. You all are the reason we are what we are. You are all so amazing and I wish you all could have been there to see the pride we had in all of you!

You can read more about it in this article.

Seakeeper Customer Service

HEIDI THOMPSON 1 Years / WILMINGTON NC - Many of you may not know that the happiest voice in the company came to us from the world of teaching. She was an elementary school teacher in Wilmington NC which must be the reason she commands our clients attention and melts their hearts at the same time. When Heidi started with us as our “Customer Happiness Specialist”, she had never been on a boat with a Seakeeper stabilizer before. Thankfully, that has changed. She is one of our biggest fans and has a true Team spirit. Happy 1 Year Heidi!!!

CAMERON OGLE 1 Years / WILMINGTON Cameron is the most persistent applicant we ever encountered. His love of Seakeeper and the science behind it constantly drew him to our boat when it was in town. Once we invited him in to an interview it was obvious we had to hire him. He has worked extremely hard, not only learn the service and installation process, but has excelled at the fabrication side of the house putting out some beautiful fiberglass work. Happy 1 year Cam!!!!

THANK YOU ALL!

This Newsletter has been created not only to keep our team up to date on all the goings on at Tri Sea, but to give credit where credit is due. So we start by thanking all of our Employees. Every day, Tim and I are grateful for all of you. We know how hard you are all working every day! Thank you for every day you show up and give us and our clients your amazing energy! They say it takes a village.  The future looks bright at Tri Sea!

The photo you see to the right was taken recently at the Wilmington, NC Boat Show. Barb’s Mom was in the hospital so the kids had to suit up and get to work so she could be with her.  Everyone is good and healthy now and the kids learned a lot about the Seakeeper product as well as how to talk about the Seakeeper Product to people who still think it is some sort of Circus trick ( They also got a lot of candy from other vendors for their trouble lol) The point is, without all of you manning you jobs in your respective locations we could not get out there and work these shows the way we do and bring in the business that we do. You guys all make this happen!

Our Seakeeper family

Seakeeper Annual Dealer Review

In December, we had our Seakeeper Annual Dealer review and audit.  This meeting week seems to get bigger and run longer every year due to our Company growth.  It is something Seakeeper does with every single Seakeeper Dealer and each location across the board (which means 4 times under the gun for us). It involves a ton of prep work and completing boring spreadsheets for them leading up to the event, to answer all of their questions and hear their feedback. Thank you for being patient with us at the close of last year with how busy we were preparing and focusing on this meeting.

During our Seakeeper corporate annual Review, we learned a lot about the industry as a whole and how we measured up compared to other dealers.  Here is what we can tell you about 2023 in close:

  • As a company, we performed around 1800 services and 143 Installations  by the end of the year and grew the install department and company as a whole around 7% in a year when almost no other dealer grew. THAT IS HUGE!!!!!!!  Great JOB. Steady growth is what every company can hope for.

  • From our installation team to working with Service techs to admin. Everyone at Seakeeper gave ALL OF YOU 5 stars and raved about our entire team.

  • We at Tri Sea  have the most certified Seakeeper Master Tech’s globally and the most Seakeeper FRB certified technicians.

  • While there has been a slowdown in the OEM market, Boat and Yacht  builders are not complaining, because their sales numbers are still so far ahead of what was projected for 2023 pre-covid.

  • Our  competition is not providing the Seakeeper  training and standards that we are providing to our employees as well as our Vendor and Broker clients and Seakeeper clients themselves.

  • The Seakeeper 10.5 and Seakeeper 14 were introduced along with their specs and info. Important to note that both of these units will fit in the same space as a Seakeeper 9. WOW Check out the new Seakeeper pricing and Seakeeper sizing information for all Seakeeper units on our Seakeeper Price and Info Page of our website; whenever you need them.

The nuts and bolts of the meeting are that Seakeeper wanted to know, how are you guys doing what you are doing the way you are doing it.  THE ANSWER IS YOU! Thank you for making us look good!

What Is The Best Yacht Stabilizer?

We often get asked about the difference between the Seakeeper Gyro Stabilizer and the well known fin stabilizer. We have included Seakeeper’s answer to that very question here:

Seakeeper vs. Fin Stabilizers: What is the Best YachT Stabilizer?

When it comes to stabilizing your boat, we know you have options. So why should you choose Seakeeper over fin stabilizers?

WHAT ARE FIN STABILIZERS?

Fin stabilizers are external appendages affixed to the hull of a vessel below the waterline. They utilize either the movement of the water, or move themselves, to create a force opposite that of the waves. If a wave pushes the boat to starboard, the fin stabilizer pushes back with a force to prevent the boat from rolling.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN UNDERWAY FIN STABILIZERS AND ZERO-SPEED FIN STABILIZERS?

Underway fins can only work to stabilize the boat while it’s underway, utilizing the movement of the water over the fins underwater. More modern fin systems can change position, angling to respond to the boat’s movement and/or water movement. These “zero-speed” fins can move on their own so they can be used while the boat is at rest.

WHAT IS A GYRO STABILIZER?

Seakeeper is a completely internal, computer-controlled gyroscope that can eliminate up to 95% of boat roll on vessels as small as 23’ and larger than 200’. Inside a vacuum encapsulation, a flywheel spins at speeds of up to 9,750 rpm. When the boat rolls, the sphere tilts fore and aft (precesses), producing a powerful gyroscopic torque to port and starboard that counteracts the boat roll.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SEAKEEPER STABILIZER AND FIN STABILIZERS?

Seakepeer completely distinguishes itself from fin stabilizers in these aspects:

  1. Zero-speed fins require short bursts of power that far exceed the stored energy requirements of Seakeeper’s spinning flywheel. In other words, fins don’t have the ability to exert a constant roll-reducing torque throughout the vessels entire natural roll period, which can cause the boat to jerk.

  2. Fins create drag, reducing both speed and efficiency, thus ruling them out for high-speed boats.

  3. Seakeeper is completely internal with no underwater hull penetrations, unlike fin stabilizers. External fins create a hazard as that can easily hit or snag common underwater features or debris.

  4. Stabilizing fins are typically only available for boats greater than 40 or 50 feet (12 or 15 meters), so they leave out the majority of boats on the water today. You can find all the information you need on our Seakeeper Installation pricing here.

THE EASY AND BEST CHOICE FOR A STABILIZER IN ANY VESSEL IS THE SEAKEEPER!

When you’re buying a boat, or choosing to refit your current boat, you could research for days about everything on board. Between the boat itself, the electronics, power, and other additional options, it can be overwhelming! But when you’re looking for stabilization, the choice is simple, and more than 10,000 Seakeeper Owners can agree! Choosing a Seakeeper over fin stabilizers makes for the most comfortable, efficient boat you’ll ever own.
